When I walk on bamboo floors I think of Asian-inspired sanctuaries, where simplicity, serenity and nature are key elements of design. Bamboo flooring is well suited to today’s interiors, especially when a streamlined, tailored look is desired.
Bamboo is an extremely strong and fast growing type of cane which renews itself every 5 years. You don’t ever have to worry about depleting this natural resource because it grows like a weed. In fact, it's important to harvest bamboo shoots regularly in order to ensure future plant growth.Bamboo is very durable so even high heels won’t dent it easily. Just make sure they’re not 6” spike heels, those will dent almost any floor! There's also a new product "Bamboo Fusion" on the market which is made with strand woven bamboo. The bamboo is cut into strips before drying, steaming and laminating under pressure. The result is a product that is over twice as hard as oak. What's nice about "Bamboo Fusion" also, is that it can be clicked together without glue, and can be used over radiant heat. I foresee bamboo flooring becoming more and more popular on the West Coast, for its Asian-inspired looks, its ecological appeal and its natural beauty and durability.
